Yellow Crane Tower Liquor

Yellow Crane Tower

Chu Cellar is a packaging design for a liquor produced in Hubei, China. The bottle is made of ceramic, and its shape imitates a set of chime bells, a cultural relic of the ancient state of Chu. The grain on the bottle body is cast in an open mould, and the box is made of wood. Raised and recessed lines on the surface reduce the chance of slipping during handling. The base of the box works as a display stand, so the empty bottle can be kept as an ornament. The intent is to reflect the history and culture of the region of origin.

Yellow Crane Tower Liquor by Yong Wu was highlighted as an exceptional illustration of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Yellow Crane Tower Liquor won the Bronze A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2020. The A' Packaging Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition which honors exceptional design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
