Al Azra Home
Al Azra Home is a single storey residential building in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The house was designed as a quiet retreat for a retired lady, on the plot where her family home once stood. Two bedrooms, an office, an open plan living and dining area, a semi open kitchen with a breakfast island and a maid's room are arranged around an inner courtyard. Stone cladding with a ventilation gap and triple glazing reduce heat, dust and noise. Porcelain floors are set on one level for easy movement. Native trees and plants provide privacy and a sense of calm.
Al Azra Home Residential by Ardh Architects was selected as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Al Azra Home Residential won the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2020. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design prize that rewards excellent design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
