Codice
Codice is a packaging design for a wine bottle, inspired by medieval codices. Codices were handwritten books made before the invention of the printing press, in which the capital letters became works of art. The label is produced on paper with reliefs and stamping and is applied to a Bordeaux bottle. A sheet of sealed vegetal paper wraps the bottle and carries illustrations of the symbols of the winery. The paper is closed with sealing wax at the top, so the content is revealed only when the wrapper is opened.
Codice Wine Bottle by Estudio Maba has been identified as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award. Codice Wine Bottle received the Golden A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2020. The A' Packaging Design Award is a highly prestigious international design award that celebrates outstanding design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
