Mau Waxed Perfume

Mau

Mau is a packaging design for a waxed perfume inspired by Japanese tradition. The name Mau means dancing while floating, and the theme is softness and lightness. The perfume is held in a paper tube made of washi, a traditional Japanese paper. A touch of watercolor on the washi expresses the gentle character of the fragrance. Waxed perfume has a low water content, so the package can be made of paper alone, without plastic. The soft scent is intended for people who find alcohol based perfume too strong.

Mau Waxed Perfume by Moe Nakagawa was selected as an outstanding illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Mau Waxed Perfume was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2020. The A' Packaging Design Award is a highly prestigious international design competition which rewards superior design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
