Weed
Weed is a portable lamp inspired by the form of wild grass. The lamp has two parts: a base and a slim stem with a light on top. The stem is lifted out of the base and held in the hand, so the light can be carried outdoors or into dark rooms. The base holds a wireless charging coil, and a receiver coil inside the stem collects the energy and charges the lamp. The outer shell is made by 3D printing in PLA, while the bendable stem is 3D printed in silicone around an iron wire. The lamp measures 110 x 95 x 460 millimetres.
Weed lamp by Cheng Jinying was highlighted as an innovative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Weed lamp won the Silver A' Design Award in Lighting Products and Fixtures Design in 2021. The A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize which celebrates excellent design of chandeliers, pendant lights, wall sconces, table lamps, floor lamps, outdoor lights, recessed lights, track lights and more.
