Honghua Airport District Masterplan
Honghua Airport District Masterplan is a mixed use urban plan for a site in Nanjing, China. The site measures about 649 by 590 metres and is crossed by an old airport runway 62 metres wide. A linked activity bar joins the north and south parts of the site along the runway park. A performance centre anchors the plan and activates the runway. Offices, a hotel and retail spaces are arranged around independent courtyards. Building volumes are broken into smaller stacked boxes with varied facades. LED glass canopies light the street level and support public events.
