Mountain House in Mist
Mountain House in Mist is a countryside book house located in an ancient village in Wuyi. The building joins traditional culture with modern design through a new application of traditional materials, a transformed roof and translucent polycarbonate boards on the facades. During the day, the boards create a soft translucent atmosphere inside. At night, light passes outward and the book house becomes a visual center of the village. The book house offers a calm place to read and aims to bring young people and children back to the mountains.
Mountain House in Mist book villa by Lin Chen was selected as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Mountain House in Mist book villa earned the Golden A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition which honors superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
