Kaleidoscope
Kaleidoscope is a restaurant interior design covering 200 square meters in Taipei, Taiwan. The facade concept is based on a kaleidoscope and presents irregular geometric figures in walnut veneer and laminate sheet with a concrete pattern. Eco-friendly plaster is applied to the walls and ceiling with a trowel finish to create irregular lines. Three fixed steel columns of the former metal house are concealed by arc forms that echo the facade. A hand-drawn painting of a warrior holding a wine bottle marks the main wall, and old southern pine lumber is kept.
Kaleidoscope Restaurant by HomeCheer Interior Design Company was selected as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Kaleidoscope Restaurant earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition that rewards excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
