Ho-House
Ho-House is a private residence built in a crowded residential area of Takarazuka, Japan. The design begins with the idea of cutting and folding a sheet of paper. Thin white slabs of reinforced concrete are folded to shape the space, and the slab edges are cut so the structure appears thinner than it is. Custom sash hardware makes the openings look seamless. Behind the parking space, a courtyard terrace forms a private area that connects the living room, dining room, bathroom and children's room. The house opens to the sky and links the interior with nature.
Ho-House Residential Building by Katsufumi Kubota has been recognized as an exceptional example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Ho-House Residential Building received the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program that celebrates outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
