Color Terrae
Color Terrae is a mobile application for archaeologists. The application digitizes the identification, analysis, classification and description of stratigraphic units following the Munsell color code. A color detection function based on artificial intelligence reads photographs taken by the user and links each stratigraphic unit to a specific color code. A Diary section works as a notebook and as a photographic archive for notes, voice memos and pictures. Dig Mode provides an interface optimized for outdoor use on excavation days.
Color Terrae App by Simone Ardito was recognized as an outstanding representation of communication design by the A' Design Award. Color Terrae App won the Silver A' Design Award in Mobile Technologies, Applications and Software Design in 2021. The A' Mobile Technologies, Applications and Software Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design award that rewards superior design of smartphones, tablets, wearables, mobile applications, mobile games, mobile software, mobile platforms, mobile interfaces and more.
