Involve Factory and Office

Involve

Involve is a factory and office building located in Nisshin, Aichi, Japan. The plan follows an equiangular spiral, also called a logarithmic spiral. The spiral layout guides workers along curved paths, so contact between colleagues happens often. The frequent contact is intended to improve quality and productivity. The spiral geometry also allows columns, beams and cross bracing to repeat the same connection details, and only the length of each member changes. The building sits on a hill like a stone sculpture, and new trees recall the forest that once covered the site.

Involve Factory and Office by Hisanori Ban was selected as a grand representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Involve Factory and Office received the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a highly prestigious international design competition that honors superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
