Artbird
Artbird is a packaging series for handmade essential oil soap. Each soap is made with essential oils from different flowers, so every bar shows a different pattern. The outer box is cut with a vase shape, and the soap is seen through the opening. Each box uses a different vase shape, so every package is unique. The box is made of special paper with a strong texture. Decoration is kept to a minimum in order to show the natural color of the paper and the pattern of the soap. The design conveys the value of handmade work.
Artbird Packaging by Zhangyong Hou was highlighted as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award. Artbird Packaging was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2022. The A' Packaging Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition that recognizes superior design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
