Ocean Vista
Ocean Vista is a public toilet renovation located along the coastal trail in Coloane, Macau, on a hillside facing the ocean. The interior layout was reorganized and new functional elements were added to the existing concrete structure within the same footprint. A viewing platform, a balcony seating area and a long bench allow visitors to look at the ocean and to observe the stars at night. The brown and reddish added elements are inspired by the mineral covered rocks of the coastal trail. Lines in the new features filter sunlight and create moving light and shadow.
Ocean Vista Public Bathroom by Manuel Lap Yan Lam was identified as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Ocean Vista Public Bathroom received the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award which recognizes superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
