YI-CHANG CHEN Art Installation and Pavilion Lighting

Green-Backed Tit Nesting Plan

Green-Backed Tit Nesting Plan is an art installation and pavilion with an integrated lighting design at Sun Moon Lake. The nest-like structure invites visitors to step inside and rest. The lighting design begins with human vision rather than illuminating the installation itself. Attention is placed on balancing the illumination between the surrounding environment and the visitors. Lighting fixtures with suitable light distribution and cut-off angles are integrated into the wooden structure to create a glare-free ambiance that sustains the tranquility of the lake.

Green-Backed Tit Nesting Plan Art Installation and Pavilion by YI-CHANG CHEN has been recognized as an innovative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Green-Backed Tit Nesting Plan Art Installation and Pavilion received the Silver A' Design Award in Lighting Products and Fixtures Design in 2022. The A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program that celebrates exceptional design of chandeliers, pendant lights, wall sconces, table lamps, floor lamps, outdoor lights, recessed lights, track lights and more.
