Origin
Origin is a dental clinic interior in Taipei, Taiwan, planned for patients treated for sleep apnea through orthodontic care. The treatment rooms are shaped like eggs, recalling a nest, a plant pod or a protective shell. Curved surfaces soften the boundaries between floor, walls and ceiling, and the lighting creates a mild and safe atmosphere. The shapes were simulated in three dimensions and cut by computer controlled machines, then assembled on site and covered with curved plates. The layout keeps the movement and function of the medical equipment intact.
Origin Dental Clinic by Lieh-Wei Liu has been featured as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition which honors exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
