Yearning for Home
Yearning for Home is a residential interior that also supports work use. The original layout was opened up, leaving one bedroom connected to a secondary room, so the space feels wider. Grey cement paint covers the television wall and the trap doors of the bedroom, the storage room and the guest bathroom, and it shows changing layers of light and shadow. Curved forms soften the beams and columns, while linear lighting is embedded for the evening. A counter and a diagonal dining table serve as working surfaces. Preserved walls hold the client art collection.
Yearning for Home Residential by Yu-Lung Lee has been highlighted as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Yearning for Home Residential earned the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program that celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
