Scramblefactor
Scramblefactor is an access control reader designed for secure entry points. Three identification methods are combined: a card reader, a numeric keypad shown on a touchscreen, and a fingerprint reader. The keypad numbers change position, so an observer cannot read the entered code. The front bezel is injection molded plastic, and the custom display uses optically bonded glass. The reader is sealed to IP65 and is field serviceable, as the screen and internal components can be replaced while the unit stays mounted. Optional configurations are produced with tooling inserts.
Scramblefactor Biometric Access by Travis Baldwin has been featured as an innovative example of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Scramblefactor Biometric Access won the Iron A' Design Award in Security, Safety and Surveillance Products Design in 2025. The A' Security, Safety and Surveillance Products Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design award which celebrates outstanding design of CCTV cameras, alarm systems, access controls, biometric scanners, surveillance drones, security locks, intrusion detectors, fire safety equipment and more.
