Hotel South Taihu
Hotel South Taihu is a resort hotel built on the east slope of Xiaomei Mountain, facing Taihu Lake. The main public area is arranged in an L shape and steps down with the terrain, following an existing zigzag mountain road. The lobby sits at the highest point of the building and meets the view of the lake through a rimless landscape pool. Guest room buildings are scattered across the hillside on both sides. Deep horizontal cornices, granite and rubble in the tones of Taihu stone help the buildings blend with the mountain forest.
Hotel South Taihu Resort Village by gad was identified as a grand representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Hotel South Taihu Resort Village received the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition which celebrates superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
