Draw One
Draw One is a calendar shaped like a tissue box. Each sheet is printed with a single date, and users pull out one sheet each day to update the calendar. A drawn sheet cannot be used again, which reflects the one-way nature of time. An opening on the front shows the remaining sheets and the rest of the year. The box is made of wooden boards cut to standard sizes, marked by laser engraving, joined with environmentally friendly glue and waxed to keep the natural texture of the wood. The intent is to encourage users to value time.
Draw One Calendar by Dan Wang was selected as a grand illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Draw One Calendar received the Bronze A' Design Award in Idea and Conceptual Design in 2022. The A' Idea and Conceptual Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition which honors outstanding design of innovations, prototypes, blueprints, sketches, models, concepts, brainstorms, proposals and more.
