Ren Community
Ren Community is an art gallery located in a small urban space in Hangzhou, China. The interior measures 13 meters long, 4.2 meters wide and 5.4 meters high. Along the long axis, the gallery is divided into three halls: front, middle and rear. The halls flow into one another and create layered, open areas. Changes in height and enclosure give the space a sense of rhythm. Skylights in the front and rear halls bring in natural light. White microcement covers the surfaces for a pure appearance. The design offers a quiet, inward space within a busy city.
Ren Community Art Gallery by Wei Zhou has been featured as an exceptional illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Ren Community Art Gallery received the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition that rewards exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
