Beyond The Flow
Beyond The Flow is the interior design of a yakiniku restaurant in Taichung, Taiwan. The project covers two floors with a total area of 280 square meters and seats 48 guests on the first floor. Arched passages and scattered geometric openings connect the rooms and let light and fragrance pass without solid walls. The interior walls are made of natural laterite with diatomaceous earth and rice straw, which absorb odor and balance humidity. A hidden downdraft ventilation system removes smoke, so overhead extraction equipment is not needed.
Beyond The Flow Commercial Space by Joye Chuang was highlighted as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Beyond The Flow Commercial Space was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design award that celebrates superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
