Parrot and Human
Parrot and Human is a residential interior design for a couple and their pet parrot in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The home covers 56 square meters and includes an entrance, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a bedroom, a semi-open study room and a bathroom. Wooden elements and plants give the space a natural character. Custom iron parts and wall trusses serve as perches for the parrot. A triangular roof in the common area recalls the shape of a birdcage and conceals beams and the air conditioner. Partitions stop below the ceiling so the parrot can fly freely.
Parrot and Human Residential House by Chia Hao Tung has been recognized as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Parrot and Human Residential House won the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize that rewards outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
