The Collector
The Collector is a residential apartment interior in Cairo, Egypt, with a total area of 250 square meters. The design serves an art collector and follows a maximalist concept of more colors, more patterns, more textures and more accessories. The interior is inspired by the historical palace of princess Aisha Fahmy on the Nile river bank in Cairo. Classic cornices, silk wall panels, wall paintings and wooden flooring are combined with colorful patterned textiles. The apartment also displays art and objects gathered during travels, so the home works as a museum of art.
The Collector Residential Apartment by Hoda Lasheen was recognized as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. The Collector Residential Apartment received the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition which celebrates superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
