Horn
Horn is a large-scale pottery art installation created for a public park in Luye Township, Taiwan. The form is shaped as antlers, with one short branch set forward and one long branch set backward, creating a height difference and a reverse spiral symmetry. The design refers to local deer legends and to the annual hot air balloon event of the area. The clay and glaze are fired above 1,200 degrees, so the surface is hard, non-toxic, weather-resistant and colourfast. The work stands about 450 centimetres high and can be viewed, touched or used as a seat.
Horn Art Installation by Jin Ying Yei Tao Pottery Ltd has been selected as a creative representation of communication design by the A' Design Award. Horn Art Installation won the Silver A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design in 2023. The A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award which celebrates excellent design of sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, drawings, mixed media works, ceramics, art objects, craftworks and more.
