The Floating Ribbon
The Floating Ribbon is an office interior created as a headquarters management hub for a company operating ports on five continents. The workspace occupies a linear warehouse building by the waterfront, where five teams share one open plan. A large curved ceiling element, called the Floating Ribbon, unifies the communal areas and links the teams together. The open ceiling is spray-painted navy blue above the shared spaces and dark grey above the work zones. Furniture is integrated with the central row of columns.
The Floating Ribbon Office Space by Maia Mai Atelier Limited has been identified as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. The Floating Ribbon Office Space won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design accolade which rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
