Command Z
Command Z is a book that visualises the memory loss caused by Alzheimer's disease. The book is divided into early, middle and late sections, matching the stages of the disease. A different design approach is used in each section. Fragile tracing paper in the early section reflects the vulnerability of patients. Temperature sensitive ink is used in the middle section, so the text appears when a hand is placed on the page. In the late section, the book is combined with fire, and the burned paper cannot be repaired, like lost memory.
Command Z Visualising Book Layout by Jiayi Li has been recognized as a grand example of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Command Z Visualising Book Layout received the Bronze A' Design Award in Social Design in 2023. The A' Social Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design award that honors superior design of community projects, social campaigns, public installations, educational programs, sustainable initiatives, healthcare solutions, inclusive design, cultural interactions and more.
