Leika
Leika is a set of metal trestles designed to support a tabletop. The design shows how very simple products can be made with modern production technologies. Laser profile cutting weakens the industrial steel profile so that it can be bent. A round profile is then enclosed under pressure, forming a geometric lock that holds the trestles together without screws. A clear click sound confirms that the lock is closed. The legs are adjustable to suit uneven surfaces. Galvanized metal gives a long service life, and the trestles can be shipped flat packed.
Leika Metal Trestles by Nimrod Shani has been selected as a creative example of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Leika Metal Trestles earned the Iron A' Design Award in Furniture Accessories, Hardware and Materials Design in 2024. The A' Furniture Accessories, Hardware and Materials Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design accolade which celebrates outstanding design of knobs, handles, hinges, casters, sliders, brackets, fasteners, locks and more.
