One Barbecue
One Barbecue is a barbecue restaurant located in Shenyang, China. The interior occupies the second and third floors of a market building and covers 1000 square meters. Part of the third floor slab was removed to bring daylight deeper inside and to link the two levels. Mottled exposed cement walls are combined with cast aluminium wall lamps that spread light across the uneven surfaces. A separate staircase entrance, a small kitchen and a street window support takeaway service. The design presents traditional north-east barbecue culture in a simple, open dining space.
One Barbecue Restaurant by Bojun Liu was selected as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. One Barbecue Restaurant was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2024. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
