Villa A
The villa overlooks a great view of the Pacific Ocean, not far from the town of Hayama, the birthplace of Japan's yachting culture. The villa's design is a sculptural form that is appropriate for this spectacular natural setting, with a vaulted roof and a series of arches that symbolize the image of the white, rippling sea. The curved arches of the CLT (cross-laminated timber) roof give a sense of spaciousness to the interior. The result is a villa that perfectly suits a laid-back lifestyle and provides a deep connection to the blue waters at its doorstep.
Villa A Weekend House by Eitaro Satake was highlighted as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Villa A Weekend House earned the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2024. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition which rewards exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
