Xilin Gol Cheese
Xilin Gol Cheese is a packaging design for a cheese product from the Xilin Gol Grassland. The square box opens and closes at the top and the bottom. The outer shell is made of paper and plastic with a hollowed out pattern shaped like a yurt. Transparent sheets on the front and the back are printed with illustrated characters of the cheese family. Patterns and texts on both sides are letterpress printed. The inner case is opaque paper with illustrations of grassland scenery. The design joins Mongolian culture with modern graphic art.
Xilin Gol Cheese Packaging by Chenghua Li has been highlighted as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Xilin Gol Cheese Packaging was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2024. The A' Packaging Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award that celebrates outstanding design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
