Tranquility
Tranquility is a residential interior design for a 290 square meter flat floor home with four bedrooms in Tianjin, China. The original floor plan was kept, while some non load bearing walls in the corridors and the master bedroom were removed to improve circulation. Gray and white cold tones dominate, combined with black aluminum panels, walnut veneer with a carved pattern, and art boards. A soft curved surface conceals a concrete load bearing wall and extends to the ceiling. One bedroom near the entrance was converted into a room for pets.
Tranquility Interior Design by Jianguo Wu has been recognized as a creative example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Tranquility Interior Design won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2025. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award which honors excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
