Ruman Origin Farmstead
Ruman Origin Farmstead is a rural building complex located in a rice paddy field on the edge of Chengdu. The farmstead has three courtyards. The first courtyard is a wooden reception space built in the traditional manner of Western Sichuan. The second courtyard holds a restaurant and a multifunctional space. The third courtyard is an independent dwelling with solar panels, ground source heat pumps, rammed earth facades and double layer doors and windows. The total construction area is 1200 square meters.
Ruman Origin Farmstead Architecture by Xinyao Han has been featured as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Ruman Origin Farmstead Architecture received the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2025. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program which honors outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
