Pacific Aquarium
As Southern California's largest aquarium, the Pacific Aquarium showcases best represents the Pacific Ocean's rich diversity. The rebranding improved legibility and memorability and simplified the name to The Pacific Aquarium. The design features fluid shapes and a custom font, evoking the ocean's dynamic nature and reinforcing the aquarium's mission of accessibility, education, and conservation through an adaptable, cohesive visual identity.
Pacific Aquarium Rebranding by Mikayla Gao was featured as an innovative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award. Pacific Aquarium Rebranding was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2025. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program that celebrates outstanding design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
