Spiritual Casa
Spiritual Casa is a residential interior design for a four-story house of 146 square meters in the countryside of Yilan, Taiwan. The design combines Chinese and Spanish traditions. Triangular wooden beams, Spanish tiles and a kitchen island recall Spanish country architecture. Screens, flowering crabapple motifs and antique coin patterns refer to Asian customs. Hand-woven rattan furniture is made by local artisans with mortise and tenon joints. Grey and milk-tea earth tones create a neutral background, and central islands and cabinets keep the circulation open.
Spiritual Casa Residence by Meng Chuan Ho has been highlighted as an outstanding representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Spiritual Casa Residence won the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2025. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award which rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
