Embrace the Poetry of Self
Embrace the Poetry of Self is a womenswear collection based on the dress. The structure of a traditional men's shirt is embedded into a feminine dress, and three dimensional cutting is used to merge the two forms. Clothing structures are deconstructed and reshaped to blur the boundaries between gendered garments. The result is one garment that can be worn in several ways. Function and appearance are combined in a single piece. The collection reflects on female identity and on the spatial relationship between clothing and the body.
Embrace the Poetry of Self Apparel by Ji Yibo was highlighted as an innovative example of fashion design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Embrace the Poetry of Self Apparel earned the Iron A' Design Award in Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design in 2025. The A' Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program that celebrates excellent design of runway collections, dresses, suits, skirts, outerwear, jackets, apparel, garments and more.
