Hollow Valley
Hollow Valley is a residential interior design for a family of six in Wenzhou, Zhejiang. The home covers 900 square meters and is arranged to balance the lifestyles of two generations. The original building structure was cut and reorganized into geometric blocks, forming crisscrossing paths. A deconstructed staircase with misplaced treads carries light between the floors. The dining and kitchen areas are separated by an elongated central island that offers storage and acts as a gathering point. The island also guides movement through the space like a corridor.
Hollow Valley Residence by Weifeng Ni has been identified as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Hollow Valley Residence received the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2026. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition which honors excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
