Algorithmic Flesh
Algorithmic Flesh is an interactive installation created for the presentation of cultural heritage. The installation tracks the real-time body movements of a participant and uses the movement data as the input for a generative artificial intelligence system. The system is trained on images of Dunhuang murals and generates a celestial dancer in motion on a large projection. When a posture matches a recorded mural pose, the participant's silhouette is transformed into the dancer. The aim is to turn a static archive into a shared and living experience.
Algorithmic Flesh Generative AI Ritual by Yalin Wang has been featured as a grand illustration of strategy design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Algorithmic Flesh Generative AI Ritual earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Generative, Algorithmic, Parametric and AI-Assisted Design in 2026. The A' Generative, Algorithmic, Parametric and AI-Assisted Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition that honors exceptional design of algorithmic artworks, parametric architectures, generative graphics, AI-Assisted illustrations, computational sculptures, procedural patterns, evolutionary installations, interactive experiences and more.
