Royal Enclosure 1619 Packaging Design

Royal Enclosure 1619

Royal Enclosure 1619 is a wooden gift box created for deer antler slices, a traditional Chinese tonic. A metal dragon seal rests on the lid and serves as the key. The magnetic dragon head must be lifted before the wooden box can be opened to the left and right. The base of the dragon head is engraved with the brand logo and can be used as a stamp. Royal motifs are presented through modern graphic design and recall the imperial hunting ground of the Qing Dynasty. The opening sequence gives the package a sense of ritual.

Royal Enclosure 1619 Packaging Design by Zhou Jingkuan has been identified as a creative example of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Royal Enclosure 1619 Packaging Design won the Bronze A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2026. The A' Packaging Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design accolade that honors exceptional design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
