Serenity
Serenity is a residential interior design for a 107.7 square meter apartment in Tainan City, Taiwan. Curved ceiling forms wrap a structural beam and mechanical equipment, turning constraints into visual guides. The living, dining, and reading areas are combined in one open plan, so daylight reaches deep into the home. Matte gray-white paint reduces reflection, while an architectural concrete coating on the ceiling adds texture and wood elements add warmth. Storage is concentrated along the television wall in suspended cabinets.
Serenity Residence by Makoto Spatial Design, Wei-Cheng Chen was highlighted as a creative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Serenity Residence received the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2026. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program that celebrates exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
