The Hybrid Sanctuary

The Hybrid Sanctuary is a residential creative studio located in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The interior covers 85.8 square meters and joins a private home with a professional workspace. A multifunctional island serves as both a dining surface and a material selection workstation. A traditional ancestral altar is integrated into the minimalist architecture. Curved forms and mineral coatings soften the large beams and columns, and stainless steel strips embedded in the floor provide ambient light. A smart lighting system adjusts color temperature to each activity.

The Hybrid Sanctuary Residential Creative Studio by PAO-CHIEH CHOU, TZE-HSIN SUN has been identified as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. The Hybrid Sanctuary Residential Creative Studio won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2026. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program which recognizes outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
