Skewed House
Skewed is a standalone villa located in Surat, India. The house covers 11,000 square feet and is planned as a series of interconnected vistas. Elements are shifted slightly off the straight line, which creates varied perspectives within the three-dimensional form. Simple aesthetics, a minimal material palette and close connections to nature guide the design. Black granite flooring, concrete and plaster walls, and teak windows and interior woodwork are used throughout. A garden on the first floor is carried by a post tensioned slab and connects with the whole house.
Skewed House Residence by Hardik Shah was recognized as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Skewed House Residence earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2019. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program which honors exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
