Mother Earth
Mother Earth is a studio portrait photograph that presents the planet in human form as a woman in poor health. The makeup uses green, blue and brown tones to represent oceans, plants and soil. Dying flower petals are placed on the head of the model to suggest illness. The expression of the model conveys sadness and vulnerability. The lighting was created with one large octabox on the model and one light on the backdrop. The final image was refined with digital editing software. The photograph links pollution to human emotion and draws attention to climate change.

Mother Earth Photograph won the Silver A' Design Award in Photography and Photo Manipulation Design in 2020. The A' Photography and Photo Manipulation Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program that rewards excellent design of portraits, landscapes, still lifes, photojournalism, fashion shots, architectural images, wildlife captures, sports events and more.
