Smile
Smile Coffee is a coffee shop located in a busy city area. The interior follows the Danish idea of Hygge, which describes comfort and quiet happiness in ordinary days. The original cement texture of the building was kept, and recycled wood was used for new surfaces. A U-shaped bar and a long table face the entrance and support service and interaction. Stairs connect three levels, and a glass partition leads to the dining area on the second floor. Prussian blue appears on the outdoor canopy, the wall logo and the indoor sofa. Natural light fills the first floor.
Smile Coffee Shop by Bryan Chang has been recognized as a grand representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Smile Coffee Shop was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design prize which recognizes excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
