Gao Wei
Gao Wei is a restaurant interior located on the third floor of a commercial mall in Kunming. The project covers 1100 square meters and presents Yunnan ethnic culture in a modern form. Different materials and colors define the functional areas, so physical partitions are reduced and the layout feels open. Smooth lines run across the walls and the ceiling, while inset lighting highlights the surface texture. The colorful exterior facade connects the interior with the mall and draws the attention of passing diners.
Gao Wei Restaurant by Steven Hu was identified as a grand representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Gao Wei Restaurant received the Golden A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design competition that celebrates exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
