Geometry and Bamboo
Geometric Bamboo Weaving is an art installation that creates light and shadow effects. The work combines a modern geometric animal outline with Chinese traditional bamboo weaving, an intangible cultural heritage craft. Steel is cut to length and welded into a three-dimensional frame. Bamboo is cut, polished and split by hand, then woven into different patterns. The hollow geometric structure holds a light source that is switched on by hand, casting patterned light and shadow. The installation measures 900 by 560 by 2000 millimeters.
