Ningbo Hanvos School
Ningbo Hanvos School is an education building designed for an international teaching model on a limited site. The main challenge was the conflict between the small plot and the need for a large playground. The design asks for space from the sky: the core public spaces are placed on top of the building terraces, while the basic classrooms are set below. The folded courtyard concept divides the site into courtyards for teaching, activities, administration and recreation. Vertical terraces connect the levels and turn circulation into shared activity.
Ningbo Hanvos School education building by DC Alliance has been highlighted as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Ningbo Hanvos School education building earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2020. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design prize that rewards excellent design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
