Thermacut Plasma Torch

Thermacut

Thermacut is a plasma torch designed for cutting metal. The torch is part of a plasma cutting system that uses gas and electricity to create a flame of 20000 degrees Celsius, cutting steel up to 40 millimetres thick. The ergonomic handle allows several holding positions. The torch can be held with a closed palm around the handle or with the thumb resting on the top of the handle. A safety trigger prevents unintended operation. The main case is made of plastic by injection moulding, and further parts are made of copper, brass, steel, ceramic and rubber.

Thermacut Plasma Torch by David Polasek was featured as a creative example of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Thermacut Plasma Torch was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Hardware, Power and Hand Tools Design in 2021. The A' Hardware, Power and Hand Tools Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award which honors exceptional design of drills, saws, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, tape measures, levels and more.
