Turquerie
Turquerie is a womenswear collection inspired by the visual culture of the Ottoman Empire. The collection is composed of six silhouettes and ten custom made pieces, in sizes extra small to medium. Luxury materials such as jacquard, velvet and chiffon create colour contrast and fluidity, enriching simple shapes and clean modern lines. Layered fabrics of different density and opacity, together with stylized sleeves and ruffles, give the garments a sense of movement. Many stitches are sewn by hand, as the fabrics are delicate.
Turquerie Womenswear Collection by Catalina Paladi has been highlighted as an innovative example of fashion design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Turquerie Womenswear Collection was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design in 2021. The A' Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which celebrates excellent design of runway collections, dresses, suits, skirts, outerwear, jackets, apparel, garments and more.
