FlowIO
FlowIO is a pneumatics development platform for the control, actuation and sensing of soft robots and programmable materials. The main module integrates valves, sensors, a microcontroller, a battery and a charger. Pump modules connect magnetically and can be swapped during use, with small, medium and large options for different pressures and flow rates. The modules are enclosed in 3D printed snap-fit housings. A software toolkit adds mobile and desktop graphical interfaces, Bluetooth control and programming interfaces. FlowIO suits both desktop and wearable projects.
FlowIO Pneumatics Development Platform by Ali Shtarbanov has been highlighted as a grand illustration of service design by the A' Design Award & Competition. FlowIO Pneumatics Development Platform was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Scientific Instruments and Research Equipment Design in 2021. The A' Scientific Instruments and Research Equipment Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program that celebrates superior design of microscopes, spectrometers, chromatographs, centrifuges, oscilloscopes, telescopes, mass spectrometers, particle accelerators and more.
