The Wishful Thinking
The Wishful Thinking is a gift box inspired by Hezhe ethnic culture. The box holds four items: a notebook, a pen, a bookmark and a USB flash drive. Each item carries an auspicious meaning, such as a promising future, rising up, like a fish in water, and guardianship. The notebook shows a Hezhe pattern and a metal clasp inlaid with fish skin. The pen is carved with scenes from the Imakan chant. The bookmark is made of brass in the shape of a fish. The packaging uses recyclable paper and plant-based ink.
The Wishful Thinking Gift Box by Guo Lin was identified as an innovative illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. The Wishful Thinking Gift Box received the Bronze A' Design Award in Giftware Design in 2024. The A' Giftware Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design award that celebrates outstanding design of candles, figurines, picture frames, decorative plates, ornaments, souvenirs, personalized mugs, collectibles and more.
